6 Simple Winter Skin Care Tips

Simple Winter Skin Care Tip #1

       Drink Plenty Of Water

There is nothing like enjoying a hot cup of tea, coffee or cocoa on the cold winter days but don’t forget how important it is to drink plenty of water. In the colder weather we are more apt to drink less water because we love to enjoy so many hot drinks but water is always a must.

Our skin needs to be hydrated and the best way to do it is from the inside, out. Drinking plenty of water helps hydrate our skin naturally.

Simple Winter Skin Care Tip #2

Use Warm Not Hot Water

Particularly in the winter a hot shower feels good but may not be as good as it sounds. Using hot water stripes away our natural oils. Choosing to use lukewarm water when showering, washing our face and hands may help avoid or cut down loosing moisture. This really helps in areas, where we are most exposed in the winter, such as our face, hands and lips. Moisturizing your skin immediately after your shower, and after hand washing, while damp also helps seal the moisture into our skin.

Simple Winter Skin Care Tip #3

                 Exfoliate!

Exfoliating is key! Moisture cannot get in if the dead skin is blocking the moisture from getting in. Use an exfoliating mask or scrub on your face, gently on your lips, and even on your hands. You will be able to see the best difference if you immediately moisturize afterwards. Exfoliating body washes or scrubs are awesome in the winter months as well. Especially for your feet, knees and elbows since they lose moisture faster than other areas on the body given that the skin is thinner and often overlooked.

Simple Winter Skin Care Tip #4

Moisturize!  Moisturize!  Moisturize!

moisturizing

Moisturizing your skin is a must. Moisturizing in the beginning of your day and at the end of your day, soothes, softens and strengthens your skin. No matter if it’s immediately after a shower, before turning in for the night or simply as visibly needed moisturizing your skin hydrates your skin immediately. Choose a moisturizer that works best for your skin type and remember moisturizing is a great defense against the winter winds.

Simple Winter Skin Care Tip #5

       Protect Your Lips

Don’t forget to protect your lips against the winter winds. Use a lip moisturizer to keep your lips from drying out. Products containing petroleum, as well ointments like Vaseline, coconut oil or cocoa butter works well to holds in moisture. When your lips become dry go against your instincts and do not lick your lips! Licking your lips dries them out even more. Constantly keep your lips moisturized to prevent cracking, pealing or chapping. Do not leave home without your favorite “flavorless” chap stick. Some flavored chap sticks may reduce moisture. Play it safe.

Simple Winter Skin Care Tips #6

              Love your skin

Last but certainly not least, love the skin you are in! You are not only good enough you are great enough. As you are, love the skin you’re in! This tip must be the foundation tip! You are enough! Love the skin you are in.

Enjoy your winter winds!
